Wireless Setup

Shortly after the first phone cord was connected to a computer, technicians around the world began trying to figure out how to cut the cord. When the first laptops hit the market the movement toward a wireless network setup and wireless internet hit high gear. Included among the needs and desires that wireless Internet connection technology strives to meet are the following:

Convenience: This is the most attractive of all wireless Internet attributes. When using a dial-up connection, it can be difficult to find a suitable spot to connect the cord. Because Wi-Fi does away with the cord or cable everyplace within range of the wireless access point is suitable for use.

Privacy: To a certain extent, this attribute goes hand-in-hand with convenience. While traditional cable networking provides limited movability and, in a public setting such as coffee shop or library, usually requires you to sit in a crowded room with all eyes upon you the use of Wi-Fi allows you to sit comfortably in the privacy of your own home or in a quiet corner of the coffee shop or even outside in the park.

Speed: Download speeds for wireless broadband Internet connections are typically as much as ten to twenty times faster than dialup and all internet providers are constantly improving their service with faster and faster connection and download speeds.

Reasonable cost: If you’ve already got a laptop computer it’s easy and inexpensive to adapt it for wireless Internet access. All internet providers offer wireless internet service and this is usually reasonably priced too.

Peripheral Device Setup

A peripheral is a device attached to a host computer but not part of it and is more or less dependent on the host to operate. It expands the host’s capabilities, but does not form part of the core computer architecture.

Examples of a peripheral device are your computer monitor, printers, image scanners, all in one printer/scanner/fax, tape drives, microphones and headphones, speakers, webcams, digital cameras and any other device you can plug in to your computer.

The most common peripheral is a printer. With your computer being the core or host your printer is an extension of your computer which allows your computer to have more capabilities such as printing a document. Although you may have a printer there is no way of your computer connecting to or understanding the printer without a little help from a user and some software. When you purchase a new printer you will be provided with a printer installation disk. This disk contains the printer driver which takes over and feeds data to the printer with the correct control commands. The printer driver is a piece of software that converts the data to be printed to a form specific to a printer. Most newer operating systems come with printer drivers for the most common printers but you must install them before you can use the printer. Printer drivers can also be downloaded from the printer manufacturer’s website.

Most peripheral devices have drivers. Drivers are specific to their corresponding device. These drivers are a type of software that is needed to get the different pieces of hardware such as your printer, camera or dual monitor to work right with your computer.

When choosing a printer or other device it is important to remember that installation is required. There is more to a printer installation than simply turning the power on. To install printers or do a camera installation or any other hardware installation your new device must be configured with your computer system as well as the device software installed. There are times when you must reinstall printer software and drivers such as when you get a new hard drive. Whether you need an all in one installation, a printer install, web camera installation or dual monitors installed we can do the job right and make sure your system operates correctly. Our Printer and Peripheral Device Setup Service  provides the unpacking and setup of your printer or other device, the installation of printer software or other device software and the complete configuration of your printer or other device to your current system.
